To preserve the integrity of the capture - all prints are 8x12 with a matte finish - no watermarks and signed by me on the back with #x/100.
Only 100 available. Depending on where you live it could take up to a week to receive. Captured with a Canon 6D Full Frame.
This isn't just a picture of the Northern Lights - this capture was a fairly strong storm as I was shooting South West - but that isn't what makes it special.
That big pillar has a name - STEVE (Strong Thermal Emission Velocity Enhancement)
)
It was visible with the naked eye and was twisting like an old school barber pole. It truly was a sight to behold - and I almost didn't get it.
I was in Owen Sound at my office when I got the report. I quickly jumped in my car and drove to Leith which takes around 10 minutes to get to.
Halfway there as I was driving along the coast - it hit --- admittedly I stepped on the gas more than I usually would.
I pulled into the area I usually frequent (Leith Beach), jumped out of my car leaving the door open, popped the hatch - also leaving it open, and ran for the beach while attaching my camera to the tripod. I only had a minute to marvel at the spectacle with my eyes before it was gone. I managed to capture two shots. This is one of them.
It was truly special.
This was at Leith Beach just North of Owen Sound on the shore of Georgian Bay.
